INNER HARBOR - NAVIGATION CANAL CLOSURE AT THE SEABROOK BRIDGE
Beginning the week of September 13, 2010, the Inner Harbor - Navigation Canal (IH-NC) will be closed to navigation in the vicinity of the Seabrook Bridge due to construction of the Seabrook Floodgate Structure across the IH-NC, by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. This waterway closure is expected to last until the fall of 2011 and additional information can be obtained by calling the Corps of Engineers' Construction Impacts Hotline at 877-427-0345.

ALMONASTER AVENUE BRIDGE - FENDER REPAIRS
Reconstruction of the missing section of the southwest fender near the Operator's House of the Almonaster Avenue Bridge started in May 2010 and will continue through February 2011. No significant rail or marine traffic closures are anticipated, but mariners are advised to pass at their slowest safe speed for the safety of personnel on work barges and periodic diving operations. The bridge remains closed to vehicular traffic due to roadway conditions.

Bridge Curfews (No Openings for Marine Traffic)

The Florida Avenue, St. Claude Avenue, Almonaster Avenue bridges and the Seabrook Railroad bridge are operated by the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans.

The Senator Ted Hickey (Seabrook Vehicular Bridge) is operated by the Orleans Levee District.

HOURS BRIDGES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO OPEN FOR MARINE TRAFFIC:

The vehicular bridges operate under federal regulation 33 CFR 117.458 which reads:
§ 117.458 Inner Harbor Navigation Canal, New Orleans.

(a) The draws of the LA Highway 46 (St. Claude Avenue) bridge, mile 0.5 (GIWW mile 6.2 East of Harvey Lock), the LA Highway 39 (Judge Seeber/Claiborne Avenue) bridge, mile 0.9 (GIWW mile 6.7 East of Harvey Lock), and the Florida Avenue bridge, mile 1.7 (GIWW mile 7.5 East of Harvey Lock), shall open on signal; except that, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, except federal holidays, the draws need not open for the passage of vessels. The draws shall open at any time for a vessel in distress.

(b) The draw of the US Highway 90 (Danziger) bridge, mile 3.1, shall open on signal; except that, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. the draw shall open on signal if at least four hours notice is given, and the draw need not be opened from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

(c) The draw of the Leon C. Simon Blvd. (Senator Ted Hickey) bridge, mile 4.6, shall open on signal; except that, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, the draw need not be opened.
